About Sarah Penney

Sarah Penney is a dedicated and compassionate Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with a strong academic foundation in Psychology and Clinical Neuroscience. Her formal education in the brain and nervous system has equipped her with a deep understanding of neurodivergence, neurodegenerative conditions, and the complex interplay between behaviour and mental health.
Sarah believes that every behaviour serves a purpose and communicates an underlying need. She works collaboratively with participants, families, and support teams to uncover the meaning behind behaviours and design practical, evidence-based strategies that promote positive change. Her approach focuses not just on reducing challenging behaviours, but on improving quality of life, emotional regulation, and independence.
Drawing on her person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive practice, Sarah strives to create a safe and respectful therapeutic environment where participants feel understood, supported, and empowered. She combines empathy with a humanistic and strengths-based perspective, ensuring that each plan is tailored to the unique circumstances, goals, and values of the individual.
Known for her calm presence, genuine curiosity, and can-do attitude, Sarah approaches her work with optimism and persistence. She is passionate about helping others build meaningful connections, develop self-regulation skills, and experience greater wellbeing in their daily lives.
