Specialised support for babies and infants from birth to three — because the earliest days matter most!
What's Infant & Early Development OT?
At Capability Support Services, our specialist infant OTs work with some of the tiniest and most medically vulnerable children — premature babies, NICU graduates, and infants with neurological, genetic or developmental conditions. We know how frightening and isolating it can feel when your baby leaves the hospital system and the support suddenly disappears. We’re here to become that missing bridge — for your baby, and for you.
Conditions and presentations we support:
-
Premature birth and NICU or Special Care Nursery discharge
-
Cerebral palsy (suspected or confirmed)
-
Down syndrome and other chromosomal or genetic conditions
-
Hypotonia (low muscle tone) and early movement concerns
-
Feeding difficulties, oral motor delays and tethered oral tissue
-
Congenital neurological or medical conditions
-
Developmental "red flags" in the first months of life
-
Infants showing early delays in motor, sensory or social development
The Gap Between Hospital and Home
One of the most vulnerable moments for a family is hospital discharge. After weeks of round-the-clock monitoring, parents suddenly find themselves home with a medically complex baby and very little guidance. Paediatric follow-up is often delayed and community services are stretched.
Our infant OTs, Holly and Monique, have worked at this intersection for years. They understand the anxiety of those early months and what development needs to happen in those first precious months of life. We believe no family should leave the hospital system and find nothing waiting for them on the other side.
