Psychological Interventions

At Capability Support Services, our psychologists focus on conducting a wide range of assessments designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities. We offer both face-to-face assessments across the Gold Coast and Brisbane, as well as telehealth services nationwide, with a particular focus on reaching rural and remote areas. Our assessments include cognitive assessments to evaluate intellectual functioning, behavioural assessments to identify and address challenging behaviours, ADHD assessments to diagnose and manage attention-related concerns, and autism assessments to better understand and support individuals on the autism spectrum.

Each assessment provides valuable insights, allowing us to tailor interventions that enhance the individual’s quality of life. While there is overlap, a psychologist typically focuses on mental health, therapy, and diagnostic assessments (like cognitive or autism testing). A Behaviour Support Practitioner focuses specifically on the environmental and functional causes of challenging behaviours to create a NDIS Behaviour Support Plan. At CSS, we offer both services to provide holistic care.
No, you do not need a referral to see an psychologist in Brisbane. As long as you have approved NDIS funding for psychology services, you can directly book an appointment with an NDIS-registered psychologist or a private psychologist who accepts individuals with disabilites.
The number of psychology sessions funded by the NDIS depends on your individual plan and the level of support you require. Your psychologist or support planner can help you determine the number of sessions needed based on your therapy goals and available funding.
