About Julia Chesham

Julia is an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner with a background in counselling and social science, supporting children, adolescents, and adults with disability. She takes a person-centred, trauma-informed approach, with a strong focus on improving quality of life and reducing restrictive practices.

Julia holds a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling) and is a registered Behaviour Support Practitioner and Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Level 2 member. She combines evidence-based assessment with practical, strengths-based strategies that are meaningful and sustainable in everyday environments.

Since 2023, Julia has worked in an allied health setting conducting functional behaviour assessments, developing and reviewing Behaviour Support Plans, and supporting implementation across home, school, workplace, and community settings. She works closely with participants, families, carers, and support teams to ensure supports are ethical, least restrictive, and aligned with NDIS requirements.

Julia has experience supporting individuals with intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, and complex behavioural support needs. She is known for her calm, approachable style, clear communication, and ability to translate behaviour strategies into practical guidance for support teams. Julia is committed to ethical practice, collaboration, and ongoing professional development, and is passionate about supporting people with disability to live safer, more independent, and more fulfilling lives.
