NDIS Positive Behaviour Support in Gympie, and Surrounding areas
NDIS-Registered Positive Behaviour Support with Immediate Capacity
Our Positive Behaviour Support in Gympie is designed to promote positive change, enhance quality of life, and empower individuals to achieve their goals with dignity and respect. Because behavior, movement, and daily independence are deeply connected, our PBS practitioners collaborate directly with our in-house Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams. By aligning behavioural strategies with physical and functional capacity building, we ensure participants don’t have to juggle fragmented providers—delivering practical, consistent support across home, school, and community.

FAQs about Positive Behaviour Supports
Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS) is an evidence-based approach that aims to improve a person’s quality of life and reduce behaviours of concern. A behaviour support practitioner assesses why the behaviour happens, then develops a behaviour support plan with proactive strategies, skill building and changes to the environment.
Yes. Specialist behaviour support is usually funded from the Capacity Building “Improved Relationships” budget in an NDIS plan. If you’re unsure whether you have funding, check your plan or speak with your support coordinator or plan manager, and we can help you work it out.
Yes. Olivia provides face-to-face behaviour support in Gympie and surrounding areas, including home, school and community visits. Telehealth is also available for reviews, family coaching and participants further out in the region.
A Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) is a structured process to understand what triggers a behaviour, what keeps it going and what need it meets for the person. It uses observation, interviews with the person and their supports, and data. The findings form the foundation of the behaviour support plan.
An interim plan is a shorter plan put in place quickly, often when there’s immediate risk or restrictive practices are being used. Under NDIS rules it is generally required within one month. A comprehensive plan follows a full functional assessment and is generally required within six months, then reviewed at least every 12 months.
Restrictive practices are interventions that restrict a person’s rights or freedom of movement, such as seclusion or chemical, mechanical, physical or environmental restraint. The NDIS requires these to be authorised, included in a behaviour support plan and reported. PBS aims to reduce and, where possible, eliminate their use by addressing the reasons behind behaviour.
Yes. We support children and teenagers and can work with schools, childcare and after-school programs so strategies are consistent across home and school, with the family’s consent.
